Drumcrow Beckie tops the chart in 483m Grade A2 at Doncaster on Jan 27
Drumcrow Beckie, upset Broomwell Rocket and the rest, to take victory in a 483 metre long Grade A2 Heat, hosted by Doncaster on Friday, January 27, 2012.
Drumcrow Beckie’s starting price of 4 to 1 was the second highest in the competition after Broomwell Rocket, and Lady Clonmore – the joint favourite with 4 to 1 betting odds.
However, the blue b***h surprised the spectators, reaching the post in 30.12 seconds.
After leaving the stall, Droopys Scolari’s daughter out of Drumcrow Martina, led the race all the way through, beating the runner-up by 4 ¾ lengths.
Broomwell Rocket finished second on the table. The black dog, who was one of the favourites, made it to the post in 30.51 seconds.
Despite showing an early pace, and running on the inside rail of the track, Hades Rocket’s son out of Missy Hissy, could not overtake the champion.
The joint favourites were expected to end up among top-3, however, Final Ronaldo, cracked a surprise to clinch third top position. The blue dog, trained by J Simpson, beat Lady Clonmore, by a short head’s margin.
After his discharge from the fifth stall with the winning chances of 6 to 1, the son of Droopys Scolari out of Farloe Oyster clocked the area in 30.68 seconds.
The fourth place belonged to Lady Clonmore, who took 30.69 seconds to bridge the distance. The white and brindle b***h, Westmead Hawk’s daughter out of Lumos, started off her act from the fourth trap.
The last two places respectively went to Big Appetite, and Curious Paddy – the two hounds with 7 to 2 betting odds, each.
Trained by R C Hardy, Big Appetite showed an early pace, but got crowded afterwards. After the opening, it took him 30.74 seconds to wrap up the event.
The last in the list, Curious Paddy, covered the area in 30.91 seconds. Since M. A. Pugh’s trainee was crowded on the track, he remained a couple of lengths adrift of Big Appetite.
Drumcrow Beckie failed to spark in her previous three Heats. However, the blue b***h managed to give a winning performance this time around, sealing her first victory this year.
