As far as musical insturments go....Did you have a feeling, like it was your "calling" (in a less cheesy way than I'm saying this)

Were you attracted to the drums in most of the music you listened to?

  1. Picked out kick and traps in most songs, loved grace notes and cymbals...ride, splash, ping, gong, Played drum parts on a pillow with sticks to song, remember fills with ease.......

Yes......I listen to everything from John Coltrane to Fish/Marillion to Yes to Van Halen to Buddy Rich and Mel Lewis to Phililp Glass to Pat Metheny.

Drums to me are the most important instrument cause we keep time. In the old glory days of Jazz...Rich, Krupa, Webb.....you were NOT a drummer unless you could keep time with your kick. Sadly, many professional drummers would fail at that requirement today.

  2. Well, you see, I played piano for awhile and I knew a lot of people who loved the drums. THen one day it just hit me! Why not start to drum? So I did, and I found myself becoming better and I just loved it!

So, yes, I was struck by the little drummer lord and meant for drums!
