Drums questions?

I've wanted to play drums for EVER...

i haven't got a kit yet but i will... what kind of price is good for a first kit?

Are they hard to get good at?

Should I try teaching myself or get lessons?

What kind of music is good to start with or should I learn different types of beats before I get into playing with songs?

And that'll do for now.. Thanks!

  1. I've just bought a kit on e-bay for £150 in brand new condition and valued at £500.

Yes they are hard to learn just as any instrument is but it's all down to practice.

You should get lessons to avoid picking up bad habits which would be very difficult to get out of.

Most music is based on either four or three ( waltz ) beats to the bar and then variations of them.

  2. I'd get lessons.

  3. a good start price for everything is around £300-£400. You will have beginner cymbals though, that may be a bit like tin-foil!!

You can teach yourself, but lessons are also important...listen to all types of music and focus on the drums.
