Drumsna Major – A lighting quick greyhound
Drumsna Major has got the potential to become one of the most consistent runners in greyhound racing, if he continues to train hard like he has been doing since making his debut in the sport this year.
The talented dog has been doing a very good job for his team in different events and his speed makes him a threat for most of his opponents. He has done well in shorter distance events compared to lengthy runs, which shows that he still has some work to
do over his stamina.
Overall, the young runner has appeared in most of his races at Newcastle and he seems to like running on this track. He has experimented in a couple of contests away from this venue and the outcome was not a bad one for him at all. Therefore, it is pretty
much clear that he is not overly dependent on track conditions and can adapt quickly.
In March 2012, the H. Williams’ trained hound made his first outing in a T2 event and the result was an average one for him. He participated in several more training sessions before taking up the challenge of some real action.
Drumsna Major’s first competitive encounter was a Grade A2 event, where he was up against some very good runners. He was not rated as the favourite to succeed and needed a special effort in order to shine.
However, the black dog failed to get the attention of anyone, finishing in a disappointing fifth place. Right after this outing, he ran once more in this class, but the result was even worse, as he ended up at the bottom of the table.
Ace Hi Rumble’s son out of Drumsna Debbie kept on running over 480 metres for quite some time before his team realised that he was more suited to shorter distance races. Therefore, he was sent in an event over 261 metres, where he made his team proud.
This was his first ever Grade OR outing and he surprised one and all with his speed. He followed it up with another strong run in this class, winning his second consecutive race.
However, Drumsna Major was unable to complete a hat-trick of victories in Grade OR events. Despite that, he has already made a mark in competitive racing and will be a force to reckon with in the future.
