  1. Hey seriously  - how else do you think some make it through the day?

I'm not a drinker, but I know some of my coworkers are, and as long as they're not on the job or out in public in a place where a student might see them, then I have no qualms about it.

  2. How did you determine she was drunk?

Was she laughing loudly  in a pub?  Did you smell Scotch on her breath in line at the grocery store?  Was she sprawled asleep on a park bench?  Walking woozily on the sidewalk, clinging to a friend for balance?

In the first two examples, drinking does not equal drunkenness.  In the second two examples, behavior that can be caused by intoxication can also have other causes.

If she was lurching unsteadily while clutching a bottle of Jim Beam and shouting out, "I'm drunk as a coon dog!"  -- then I would presume she was drunk.  I would also consider that cold tablets mixed with champagne from a bridesmaids' luncheon could have an unprecedented and regrettable impact on a novice drinker.

But you understand my point.  Generosity of the spirit makes us all better people.

  3. Perhaps we teachers should stay indoors permanently until it is time to go to work.  That way we can't offend anyone by drinking, swearing, shouting or crossing the road as other people do...

  4. She NEVER was!!!  sheesh

  5. If a teacher isn't at work, it's none of your business what he or she is doing.

  6. omg no!

  7. If they aint at work, aint driving and not making a nuisance of themselves ( drunk and disorderly ) I cannot see a problem.

  8. Only if you took advantage of her.

  9. As long as she was not working. i am always amazed at how judgemental people are of teachers when they are on their own time.

  10. There's a good chance it was a one-off.  If he/she was off work at the time then you can't get involved.  It's a completely different story if they're drinking at work or are under the influence at work.  A teacher in my old school used to always carry a bottle of coke around with her and it was found out that she had vodka in it.

You have to assume that this was a once-off thing and hope for the best.  I'm sure there are many parents and staff that would notice if there was a problem.

  11. Not ok

  12. Was it after work. It might have been a once time. If you note this at work, it should be reported as the children could be neglected and hurt. Do it pronto.

  13. no, never should a teacher of any kind be drunk. Unless of course the teacher is teaching how to drink...

  14. Yeah, no problem! (As long as she wasn't actually at work at the time!)

  15. Are u kidding? Of course it's bad.

  16. Whether you're a parent or colleague finding someone drunk in charge of children is something that you have to take action on. You wouldn't feel good if there was an accident that could have been prevented if you had reported the teacher drunk. So....if you are sure of your facts, write them down then go and see the head of the nursery. People don't need to know what you did, but it's important that you report it.

  17. ASSIGN THE SCHOOL MONEY TO THE CHILD AND LET THE PARENTS DECIDE WHAT SCHOOL TO SEND THE CHILDREN WHETHER IT IS PUBLIC, PRIVATE OR PAROCIAL INSTEAD OF THE SCHOOL. YOU WILL BE AMAZED HOW MUCH THAT WILL IMPROVE OUR PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.
