Question:

Dry Mouth Problems Please Help!?

by  |  earlier

I have major dry mouth problems because of taking adderall. Not taking the meds is out of the question because it is very well needed. The biggest side effect for me is the dry mouth. I drink plenty of water (about 128 oz) at least a day and it does nothing. Chewing gum doesnt help either. Cough drops or any suck on candy is somewhat of a relieve but I dont want to be popping cough drops or candy all day long. Any Suggestions please!

  1. Your case is known as Xerostomia, Meaning the reduced amount of salivary secretion due to drugs such as the one you take, my opinion as a dentist is visit your dentist and explain the problem, he may alter the dosage of the drug or even change it, also he might prescribe a drug know as to induce salivation. One of the problems of Xerostomia is increased liability of Caries/cavities. I wish i would have helped you enough.

  2. There’s a gum called Quench that’s made specifically to help prevent dry mouths. I think you can get it at any sports stores.
