I got all 4 wisdom teeth pulled monday morning, and it is now saturday. I had very little swelling, little pain, and have had a good recovery. However the bottom left hurts a little, is this normal or could it be a sign of a dry socket? Also if i was going to get a dry socket am i in the clear now or not?

  1. Dry socket pains are unbearable. They are shooting and sharp pains that will affect your ears and your throat. If you have a dry socket, it's unmistakeable. So, a little discomfort is completely normal. Besides, it's 6 days later...so a dry socket probably won't happen for you.

Going back to eating normal, solid foods, should take about a week..week and a half.

  2. a week fully; for eating... so 2 days... and if your mouth smells rancid; get check out it could be a dry socket

  3. Having a little pain or discomfort is perfectly normal, even several days later. A "dry socket" aches and throbs incessantly. It's not subtle and it does not improve over time as you would expect with the normal discomfort.

As for eating, you should probably stick to softer diet until any stitches come out. Otherwise, you can eat what you like. Take care to rinse really well after each meal to dislodge any food particles that might be caught in the incisions.

Check back with your dentist with any of your questions.

    Feel better soon!

  4. I got dry sockets when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. It hurt a LOT; I had no doubt there was a problem. So if it just hurts a little, and doesn't get worse, you're probably fine.

As to when you can go back to eating like normal, you have to wait until your sockets are totally healed up. Even then, be wary of hard, crispy foods that could puncture the tender, healing tissue.

  5. You will hurt so bad that there will be no doubt something is wrong if you develop a dry socket. Why? Because your bone is exposed to air, plus you will have a horrible rancid smell from your mouth. If your just sore chances are this is a normal process.

  6. When I had mine done they did 2 at a time. Dry sockets I was told was extremely painful not just a little sore.

I think you are sore because they were taken out and the general pain associated with it. Plus wisdom are a little harder.

You should be fine eating as long as you can without pain like something poking it hard or soemthing. Try to avoid a straw though.
