Dry dipstick?

I put in 6 qts. of oil and my dipstick is still dry, wheres the oil going?

you might have a leak or u arent putting it in the right spot look under your car when u put it in and see if its leaking out

You either have major leak under your car, OR there's so much sludge and dry junk in the oil pan that it cannot get to the dip stick.

or you put the oil in the wrong place.

check the trans,coolant level and color.the only exceptions would be northstar engines they hold 8.

Either it is the wrong dipstick, or a broken dipstick, or the oil was put in the wrong place. Check the transmission fluid level and see if it went in there by mistake.AND DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE IT HAS SUFFICIENT OIL O0R IT WILL BE SEVERELY DAMAGED!

Hold the dipstick in a well lit area because new oil is really hard to see. Try turning it a little bit and look real hard. I bet there's oil on it and you don't see it.

you either have the worst oil leak EVER and you need to check your driveway. or like someone else said terrible sludge so that the oil cannot reach the dipstick
