My eyes are always red bc of allergies and straining. But since i woke up this morning i felt like theres something in my left eye and the little veins are all red. How do i know if my eye is just dry or if someone gave me eye herpes?

  1. Eye herpes would be amazingly painful and you would most likely not be on the computer. Have you used Zatidor fo ryour allegies? It is an over the counter eye drop you use twice a day and is amazingly effective for most people with eye allergies. If you get worse you really should see your doctor.

  2. I'd be more wondering if you have a bit of conjunctivitis...which can be due to just the allergies or a light infection. If you have any matter (crusties, weeping gooey stuff) coming out of the eye I'd get it looked at so they can start you on antibiotic eye drops (which you can get over the counter btw)

  3. When it feels like something is in your eye (known as foreign body sensation), I automatically assume the patient has dry eyes.  Other common symptoms are a gritty feeling, sharp pains in the associated eye(s), and tears running down your cheak.  I would try an artificial tear first since it is over the counter.  If this does not help, go to see your eye doctor, they will be able to tell you if you do indeed have dry eye, or just allergies.  Dry Eye Sydrome is one of the most commonly undiagnosed eye problems, make sure to get it checked out.
