Question:

Dry hair...in the shower???

My hair is dry immediately after I get out of a shower. If I look in the mirror, I see all these parts that are completely dry, while others are drying out quickly. Whether I let it air dry, tap dry, or wrap towel dry, it ends out horrible and becomes poofy and icky.

What's wrong with my hair? : ' (

I tried all sorts of hair care products, so if you suggest one, I won't read the rest of your message.

I'm not actually seeking a remedy. I'm seeking for the CAUSE. What causes hair to become dry in the first place? Certain foods / ingredients? Lack of sun exposure? Electric shavers?

I wash my hair every 2 or 3 days. So I'm not drying it from excess shampoo usage.

Thanks a LOT to anyone who helps me.

  1. You could be dehyrated.

  2. Eat foods rich in the essential fatty acids such as cold water fishes like salmon and tuna..... these will prevent dry and brittle hair, improve its texture and nourish your skin as well.... they help to lubricate the fatty layer just beneath your skin and help enormously with levelling out stress and anxiety also .......  and bolster your immune system ..... or supplement with a daily fish oil tablet / liquid. The beneficial effects of the EFA's for improving skin and hair care are staggering.

Drink more water too and ensure that you are properly hydrated to make sure that your digestive system and body can function at peak levels...........  at least 2 - 3 litres per day of fresh filtered water ...... check out the following link on water and your hair , it may be of use to you.

Also, commercial brands of shampoo and conditioner generally leave a chemical residue on your hair and over time will leave it dull, dry and lank looking ........  if you can't afford to buy the organic varieties of hair care products (i can't cos they're madly expensive) then simply do as i do and put an inch of white vinegar into the bottom of an empty 2 litre bottle, fill with warm water and shake well to mix... after you've finished shampooing and conditioning your hair like you normally do, simply pour the vinegar and water mixture slowly over your hair to rinse off the chemical residue that has more than likely built up on your hair.......  ensure that you close your eyes or it will burn them and rinse your hair thoroughly with water afterwards .....  Voila!!  Silky soft manageable locks ever more ......;0)

    hope this helps

    peace 2 u

  3. The cause is the products.

Wash your hair with a paste made out of a mixture of water and baking soda and rinse your hair with straight apple cider vinegar. And...don't wash your hair more than 3 times a week.

  4. I agree with others, commercial shampoos have sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) which is very bad for the hair.

If u go to your local health shop, they have shampoos without SLS which might help.

PS. if u r looking for a really good conditioner, Tresemme do a really good one called Vitamin E Rich moisture, it really works for me anyways.

  5. Who says that your hair is drying out?  Maybe your hair is naturally kinky and what you need is a hair straightening product.  You could also try using a balm cream on your hair after you wash it.  You could also try to have your hair thinned with thinning scissors.

Trying these things will give your hair a nice not dried out look and it will be more manageable and you will feel a whole lot better.     I

  6. Let me guess, are you using a supermarket hair care brand. Maybe you should stop, actually right now. If you swap em at hair warehouse you get a free shampoo this month but seriously, i believe its your haircare product that may be doing this to you.

  7. use  herbal hair oil like jagriti nimb amala hair oil (formula of  neem, amla, bhingraj, brami , aloe vera , coconut oil , sesame oil  etc . ) use herbal hair wase like nimb amla kesh kalp . use 2 cap twise a day aloe vera kash capcules . dont use any cemical like dye
