Dry land salinity and desalination plant?

Would it be viable to use solar powered desalination plants to help to stop dry land salinity or slow it down and help the australian country towns and farmers and take some of the stress off our dying creeks and rivers.

  2. Of course.  But don't confuse viable with economical.  Australia currently has a larger population than can be supported by their environment.  Reverse osmosis water is very easy to do, especially with solar power.  It's just going to cost a lot of money.
