Question:

Dry stuff on rabbits fur!

when my rabbit cleans himslef the spit goes all dry and makes the fur feel like its got hairspray or something on it.

it only happens in the summer and im really stumped.lol..anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

  1. if its only in the summer, than its something he does to cool himself off. my rabbit lays under the water bottle and lets the water drip on him. but i guess your little guy has a different method!


  2. It's just that - dried saliva. Nothing more.

    He may be trying to cool himself off in the summer, which is why you'd notice it more frequently.

  3. I don't know, my bunnies don't tend to do this! Is it something you are giving him? Sometimes surtan food can make them 'foam at the mouth' and when they l**k themselves,the fur can feel like a sort of hairspray!! Because normal saliva shouldn't be like this,whenever my rabbits are hot,they normally lie down alot,not l**k gloo all over themselves!!

    If it continues for a while, consult your vet(if its bothering you!).
