Question:

Dryer Burning Clothes?

I have a Frigidaire Model GLGR642AS0 dryer that has a bad habit of burning the clothes.

I have found there is a gap between the lower felt and the upper drum glide.

Obviously, I need to replace them. The disassembly looks easy enough.

The question I had is with a problem such as this, should I just replace the upper glide or is it best to replace the upper glide and the lower felt at the same time?

  1. not sure i understand what the felt and the glide have to do with the burning of the cloths.

the heat comes in from the rear of the dryer not the front.

if you have an auto setting try using that, if not use the lower heat setting, it may take longer to dry the cloths but won't burn them either.

i believe there is a temp sensor that is supposed to NOT let that happen.  maybe that sensor is bad.

    good luck to ya

  2. Do both while you have it apart I would replace all glides as they have all gone same distance.THE REASON IT BURNS CLOTHS IS IF IT PULLS AIR THROUGH THE FELT IT IS NOT GOING THROUGH THE ELEMENT AND THE PLACE WHERE THE ELEMENT COMES INTO THE TUB GETS VERY HOT PLUS AIR GOING PAST THE THERMOSTAT IS NOT ACTUAL TEMP.
