Ok so the first week we moved into a house we're renting, the dryer caught on fire. I was wondering what the proper of cleaning out the smoke is. The only thing they cleaned up was the laundry room. They washed the walls with chemicals and painted it over. When I was living with my parents, we had a fire incident and the workers had to clean the walls ALL over the house. I asked the contractor that only cleaned the laundry room walls, "are you suppose to clean the whole house?" and he told me no. we've been living in there for about 6 months now and not sure what we should do. Are they suppose to clean the whole house? Im pretty sure its cancerous. Should I take this into a legal matter and try to get all my months rent back?

  1. They might have only paid the contractor to clean just those walls. Also you will want to talk to them about cleaning the entire apartment if they refuse, then you can go to your local housing authority and report them. Also if nothing happens after 2 weeks from then, then take legal action. I highly doubt they will give you your rent back. I hope that helps!
