Question:

Dryer tips: how to prevent shrinking?

It seems that whenever I wash new clothes, they always shrink on me after I put them in the dryer. It'll actually make the shirt shorter, but it'll stretch out the width of the shirt...so it kind of looks like it was made for a short fat guy with his belly showing...lol

Now I just air dry my good clothes and that seems to solve the problem, but is there any way to not get my clothes messed up in the dryer?

BTW, I use Woolite detergent with downy fabric softener.

Thanks.

  1. You've already found the right solution and that is to air dry your clothes.  Check to see what heat setting you have on your dryer.  A high heat setting is going to shrink almost anything (or melt synthetics!).  If it's possible to change the setting, go with the lowest heat setting you can, or even select "Air Fluff".  It will take a little longer to dry but it's worth it.  Also, could part of the problem be the temperature of the water you wash your clothes in?  Choosing either the Warm or even Cold setting on your washing machine should help too.

  2. its the dryer that does it
