Question:

Drying fresh bay leaves?

I recently bought a package of fresh bay leaves and would like to dry the remaining several, rather than throwing them out. I do not have a food dehydrator. What is the best way for me to dry them and then also store them?

  1. To be honest, I just let them dry on their own. Don't put them in a sealed container until they are totally dry though. If I have a whole stem of leaves, I just tie a string around it and hang it to dry. If it's just a few leaves, I put them in a piece of net, and hang that to dry. I've also just put my leftover fresh spices in the freezer for use later. It works just fine.

After your fresh leaves have dried completely, you can put them in a container with a lid. Keep them in a cool, dry place.

    Enjoy your fresh bay!
