Question:

Drywall and trim-out a living room

I've seen estimates of $1-$1.75 per sq ft to drywall. But I have a small room (160 sq ft) with a few windows and one doorway. Some of the demo is done (removed wall paneling) and I've removed trim around windows.

It's 600 sq ft of drywall so at $1.75/ sq on the high end that would be about $1,000.

Now, take into account that there are 2 very small windows and one double hung window, as well as one average door, to trim out. With nice trim - poplar- milled, stained and everything.

What would the additional cost to finish the room be?

Remember, a 160 sq ft room, half demoed, some windows, nice trim.

  1. Trim comes in all sort of sizes, color, style, etc. and it's cost vary depending on what you're looking to do.  You could do simple 1/4 round for very cheap (like $50) or you  could do fancy stuff for $250 to $400.  Just depends on how fancy you want to get.  Hope that helps.
