  1. "Some TV stations have actually changed their channels when they switch to the Digital signal...."

Some?  Where did you get that bogus idea, Tech-man?  Try ALL.  You CAN'T transmit an analog and a digital signal on the SAME channel.

However you are right about contacting the station ENGINEER.  They are the ones who are actually producing the DTV signal and have to make it work.

  2. You need a channel amplifier 30 db from radio shack I have a roof antenna in a 60 unit building some channels work fine 1 day and no signal the next. So I hooked up an a/b switch and put a indoor antenna with a 25 ft coax cable on it move it around signal strength changes all the time.

  3. The biggest problem people face when converting to digital broadcasts is weak signal strength. Weak analog TV broadcasts gradually degrade the picture quality; you still get a picture in most incidences but it may not be the best picture (snowy, ghosting and possible loss of color). It takes a very weak signal to completely lose the picture with analog broadcasts.

Digital broadcasts are completely different. You either get a clean picture or you get nothing (only a message telling you "No Signal"). Digital signal strength needs to be well above 50% (HDTV manufacturers actually like to see the signal at 80% or better) for a digital tuner to receive a picture. Your antenna more than likely is receiving the digital broadcasts but it sounds as if your signal strength is just too low. Try rotating your antenna for a better signal. You may need to add an RF amplifier to your antenna. You may even need to upgrade your antenna. Go to http://www.antennaweb.org and input your location information in the antenna selection area. This site will provide you with very useful information about what channels are available digitally in your area, where your antenna needs to be pointed to receive those channels and the best type of antenna for your application. See if this site can help you with understanding your problem.

  4. Some TV stations have actually changed their channels when they switch to the Digital signal....

It may be possible that you do get the station, but on another channel number....

With a Tower antenna, you should be getting them all. However, note that the FOX network is taking their time doing the "over the air" digital switchover....

We still do not have Fox yet in our neighborhood..

You might be in the same situation. So contact the TV stations you don't get, or look them up online and see if they moved their channel number. And if they are online, you can also post a message to the engineer and get the lowdown about why you may not get them.....
