Du Pengyu tames Hu Yun to power his way into Men’s Singles final at 2012 Indonesia Open
China’s dark horse Du Pengyu continued his brilliant winning run as he powered his way into Men’s Single final after taming Hong Kong’s Hu Yun in semi-final showdown at the 2012 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series on Saturday, June 16, at Jakarta, Indonesia.
Pengyu, who is seeded at number eight in Men’s Single draw of the championship, showed his elite class while playing against his lower ranked Hong Kong rival and won the battle without dropping any game.
The World Number 10 Pengyu continued his roller-coaster performance in the tournament and ousted Yun in an emphatic fashion by ending the semi-final battle in straight games with a fascinating margin on the board.
On the other hand, Yun could not continue his phenomenal performance in the semi-final contest against his higher ranked Chinese rival and crashed out without creating a strong impact.
In the opening game, Pengyu played attacking badminton by showing a wonderful aggression in the court. However, he failed to take a comfortable advantage in the opening half as his rival was also positive in his play.
The Hong Kong shuttler geared up his speed at the end of opening half and managed an 11-9 lead on the board.
After the break, Pengyu became quick in all areas of the court and unleashed his powerful smashes quite accurately and managed to take over the control of rallies.
The higher ranked Chinese remained ahead of Yun in the ending points of opening game and took it with a 21-16 score on the board.
In the second game, it was Yun who showed a few glimpses of his brilliance as he took four consecutive points to take a 4-0 lead. However, he failed to stop his rival from levelling the score at 4-4.
Until the one-minute break, the Chinese star was going ahead of his Hong Kong rival by reaching at 11-9.
After the break, the Chinese played incredible badminton by taking the bird early from all areas of the court and grabbed the game with a remarkable margin of 21-12.
Pengyu tamed Yun in straight games of 47 minutes with a sensational 21-16 and 21-12 score on the board.
