Duaiseoir to rivet at Plumpton – Maiden Hurdle Preview
Venetia Williams’ black gelding, Duaiseoir, is likely to seal a fabulous success in ‘Windmill Catering Maiden Hurdle’ race which will be held at Plumpton horseracing track on Monday, February 27.
The £1,916 Class 5 contest of 2m distance will commence at 2:15.
There are total 13 entries for the high-stakes event including Bernie’s Weapon, Duaiseoir, Hawkhill, Kings Bayonet, Niceboy, Petit Ecuyer, Pierre Dubh, Winning Spark, Now What, Western Approaches, Parigino, Primaries and Chilworth Lass.
With Duaiseoir being the hot favourite, two other runners named as Hawkhill and Kings Bayonet are expected to grab second and third spots in the race respectively.
Here we make a brief inquisition of each of the three horses individually.
Duaiseoir
Since making his debut in August 2009, the brilliant gelding has bagged a couple of victories so far. He last won in May 2010. The six-year-old runner has been out-of-action since June 2010.
The Graham Mezzone-owned gelding is geared up to stage a strong comeback after a long period of rest. Though there lies great uncertainty about Duaiseoir’s performance at Plumpton but his inherent skills suggest that the veteran sprinter will make a big
mark. He has 80 percent chances to finish first.
Hawkhill
Tim Vaughan’s black gelding has won 4 out of his total 22 races so far. Since bagging a couple of good victories in September 2010, he has been winless to date.
In his last outing at Tipperary on October 4, 2011, the experienced runner finished 3rd. In today’s contest, Hawkhill is supposed to show a decent run and earn at least second position.
Kings Bayonet
The champion trainer Alan King’s gelding won last in July 2011. Overall, he has two triumphs to his credit. He has run for 17 times so far. The five-year-old runner finished 4th and 6th in two contests during January 2012.
The gelding is likely to finish 3rd in today’s race.
Conclusion
None of the other 10 runners owns enough form at the moment. Thus, this race is going to be a tough battle among the favourite threesome. Duaiseoir will have to struggle hard for victory. Good luck to all the horses.
