Dual Channel and Max Memory supported?

Let's say I'm picking a motherboard and some RAM.

If I'm getting DDR2-800, and want to run it in dual-channel mode, does my motherboard need to have a max memory supported of DDR2-800 or DDR-1600?

Thanks.

  1. The max memory your motherboard supports and the ability to dual channel have nothing to do with the memory speed. If your board supports DDR2-800 then the memory you need is DDR2-800 regardless of the amount or if you run it in dual channel mode.

  2. 800
