Dual citizenship problem???

why cant be a child born in he philippines that has one parent a filipino while the other a foreigner that came from a country that follows the Jus Sanguinis/Soli principle have dual citizenship????

  1. If the government of the Philippines insists that you only be of citizenship of that country, and not allow citizenship of another country in duality with their own, that is entirely their prerogative to make such a law.

    Dual citizenship actually causes a lot of complication with regards to an individual. Usually it is offered to people for whom the dual citizenship won't cause such complications, and if you know the Philippines' history of Spanish invasion, and currently an Islamic population in the south, you would understand why they insist on your loyalty to their country first, foremost and solely.


  2. Every country makes it's own citizenship laws - they're all different. If a foreigner is born in a country that allows dual-citizenship they can usually move to another country and apply to live there with no problem. :-)
