Dual monitor questions ?

i recently purchased a nvidia video card..a couple days later a vga splitter so i can set up a dual monitor computer..well now that i have everything i need and set up its not working properly..when i turn on the cpu both screens pop up then a5seconds later my secondary screen goes blank..when i change apearance settings it does the same thiing..iits not showing me i have two monitors in my display settings either..and i downloaded a program that is supposed to extend the features of dual screens and its not showing me two either only my primary screen..i am not totally sure the wattage on my power supply but i think its betwween a 300 and a 350..could this be the problem...what is a good way to diagnose my problem..thanks a bunch

  1. I have never used a vga splitter but I have installed two video cards to run dual monitors and I have not had any problems. I would suggest installing another video card and try doing it that way.

  2. its not your psu unless your video card isnt getting enough power. which it might not be.

  3. What kind of video card is it? More than likely, your card is either not able to support two monitors, is not able to support the combined resolution of your two monitors, or isn't liking your vga splitter; since only one vga is connected to the actual card, it may think you only have one monitor plugged in, even if you say you have two.

  4. right click on the desktop>properties>settings>and there should be a setting to use both monitors.........
