Dual motherboard question?

i have a dual lga 771 motherboard that supports my xeon processor. my question is can i run the machine using just 1 processor and then buy the 2nd processor later(same type, a xeon 5450) and put it in later. or do i have to start with two processors??

Yes most dual boards have a CPU1 and CPU2 socket, and you have to use the lower # for single cpu.
