Dub copywritten vhs to dvd

Question

Okay...so we want to take some of our vhs tapes...and convert them to dvd so that we can play them in the car.....however...our dubbing dvd....will not allow it becuz the material is "copywritten"...so...i KNOW there has GOT to be a way around that.
