Dubai Desert Classic: Tiger Woods makes a comeback
Tiger Woods surprised everyone in the on-going 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic as he had a blemish-free scorecard in the second round after firing an eagle in the first.
The 35-year-old teed off from the back early morning. He birdied the par-4 12th hole to overcome the mistake he made in the first round and proceeded further with confidence. Woods smashed another tee shot, which plunged over half of the fairway
and settled for another birdie. He parred the next four holes before entertaining the crowd once again.
Tiger hammered a tee shot, which cut sharp left and covered a distance of 265 meters. He ironed it and the ball plunged over the green. The former world number one then plumed a birdie putt from 18 feet that rolled straight into the hole.
The 14-time major winner walked towards the front nine with a big smile on his face. The same smile which was seen in 2008 when Woods posted a one-stroke victory over Martin Kaymer.
He chipped the second shot seven feet from the rough and rolled a 25-feet long birdie into the hole.
Tiger took his position on the tee of the sixth hole with a driver in his hand. He smacked a tee shot to the extreme left, which flew over the Emirates Golf Club and dropped some 314 yards away from the tee. Tiger accompanied by his caddie, reached the green
and chipped in a birdie from two feet.
The two-time winner of Dubai Desert Classic wrapped the second round of the tournament with a score of 6-under-66.
Tiger wants to emulate the feat of a title hat-trick set by South African Ernie Els. With a game like this and winds in favour of the American, chances are high for Woods to achieve the feat.
After winning the Dubai Desert Classic Challenge Match on Tuesday, Tiger spoke to the press. He said that the greens suited his style and he was looking forward to his third victory at the event.
