Dubai Sunshine to glimmer in the PHS Waterlogic Classified Stakes at Haydock
Haydock will stage the PHS Waterlogic Classified Stakes over six furlongs on Friday, 25th May. Participating for the £4,075 prize money is a line-up of nine three-year-old runners.
Only Especially Red is racing for the seasonal debut and the rest of the candidates are already set in the new season. None of the entries has raced at Haydock and many have not even won since quite a while.
Dubai Sunshine, Dubawi’s three-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Star Express, is the only contestant who has posted a victory in the current season.
Dubai Sunshine was the 7/2 favourite winner of the Bet Blue Square On Your Mobile Maiden Stakes on 31st January at Southwell over a mile. He led the track by three lengths and the closest to finish the race behind the winner was Cape Safari.
Coming at terms with the third position was Somerset Island.
This turned out to be his only win throughout the career. He remained winless in the races that followed with no experience at Haydock whatsoever.
Dubai Sunshine’s most recent try was in the Good Luck To HIBS Tomorrow Handicap on 18th May at Hamilton over six furlongs. The race was won by the 4/1 favourite winner, Galician, who had Joe Fanning onboard.
The winner led the runner up of the race, Our Boy Jack, by a neck’s difference while Dubai Sunshine settled into the third spot.
This was the most decent ranking for Dubai Sunshine after the victory in the seasonal debut.
Today he will race through the sixth outing of the new season and it is high time that he finally claims a race.
Another note worthy entry for the race is Waseem Faris, Exceed And Excel’s three-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Kissing Time. He has been pretty consistent with the rankings in the races that he took part in during the new season besides the exception of the very last try.
His standing in the first three races of the season did not go down the third position. If he keeps up with the level of consistency then he can easily turn into a threat for Dubai Sunshine.
