The West Indies Under-19 skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite is pleased with their tour of Dubai, he rated the trip as a good experience for the team.
He was talking to media after arriving home from a successful series against the Aussie Under-19 team in Dubai.
Brathwaite said; "It was good to get a chance to experience foreign conditions. We handled ourselves very well. Before we left home we were physically and mentally prepared, so we adjusted quite well."
The Caribbean under-19 team has returned after defeating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 2-1 in a youth One Day International series.
The West Indies team also won a three-day youth test by 4 wickets against the Aussies junior team at the Global Cricket Academy.
Brathwaite added; "It was extremely hot, and we had to make sure we hydrated properly. We got it right off the field, and that allowed us to go out and play good, competitive cricket."
Commenting on the importance of the series, the Windies skipper said that they represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and the sense of patriotism helped them triumph in tough situations.
"We all played together as a team, and we played together for the people of the West Indies," he said. We fell behind in the ODI series when we lost the first match, but we kept our focus, and bounced back to win it and the 'Test' as well." He stated.
The Dubai series was the perfect opportunity for West Indies’s youth team to prepare themselves before participating in the Youth World Cup, which is scheduled in Australia for July 2012.
The Caribbean under-19 skipper said; “We knew what we went there to do, and I would say we performed very well. It was good to get that opportunity to play on different pitches away from home. We now have the upcoming days, weeks, and months to get fully prepared for next year's World Cup. We plan to use the time wisely and make sure we do the West Indies proud again.”
West Indies is strictly implementing the policy to select young players in their national side as well.
