Question:

Dublin Like a Local?

I'm officially coming to Dublin in May '08. While I plan on visiting some of the touristy places in the city, I'm also interested in doing something that a Dubliner would do. I live in Washington DC area and I know the locals here don't visit monuments often, lol.

  1. You're from DC and you're "officially coming to Dublin???"  Does that mean you're bringing an entourage???

Let me know and I'll have Bertie "officially" greet you when you land.

  2. Party like a rock star! Go to a fish n' chipper!

  3. I'm Dublin-born and bred and write a travel guide called "insider's guide to hidden Dublin" (see below). You will find plenty of non-tourist things  that natives do, particularly with pubs, culture and walking. I also write a newsletter and if  you would like to see one, please write via my "contacts" page (that goes for anyone).

Since you're obviously interested in historical monuments and things, here is a photo of the Handel Messiah commemoration:

A lot of Dubs pass this without noticing! I hope you will find lots of info on the alternative Dublin and have a great visit.

  4. Pub traveling wher you go from pub to pub, check out a B&B and just have fun!!!
