Hey everyone. One of my friends and her fiance are headed to Dublin, Ireland for Christmas this year. Does anyone know of anything cool they can do while they are there? BESIDES the Guiness factory thing. That's alright but I think they want to do something else. Also they are on a budget. So Any Help would be appreciated!!!!! Thanks

  1. It really depends on a) how long they'll be here, b) will they have a rental car, and c) what their tastes are.  Their best bet is just buy a guidebook (e.g. Lonely Planet, etc.) and have a look.  To respond to previous answerer, Blarney Castle is quite far from Dublin.  Newgrage is much closer and it is possible to get a bus, but they'd be better off with a rental car.  If they don't have a rental car, there's not much in the way of ancient ruins around Dublin, but there's a few museums and places of interest.

Personally, if they want to really do sightseeing in Ireland, I'd suggest going outside Dublin; it'd be cheaper and there's more to see (though they'd want to rent a car for sure).  Go west: Galway, Clare, Kerry... loads of cool old broken stuff and pretty sights to see. ;)

    Hope that helps.

  2. there's a city hop on/off bus that they can buy a ticket to see the whole city relatively inexpensively. it's a great way to get around. i think they also have narration to hear the history of the city (can't remember exactly). a good time is always had by sitting at the pubs and striking up convo with locals and people watching.

  3. I don't know how far it is from Dublin, but Corfe Castle is 'haunted'(not really sure i believe in that stuff). Also there is Blarney Castle, and another that i don't know how far it is from Dublin but Newgrange tomb is a pretty cool place, so i've heard

  4. The Botanic Gardens are a must!! It sounds kinda boring at first, but its a cool. There's also Dublin Zoo, The Garden of Remembrance, Dublin Castle, St. Stephen's Green, and the Temple Bar, probably the oldest bar in Ireland. Try those.
