Dublin the grade 1 winner after retirement is purchased by the Spendthrift Farm
A newly retired chestnut colt, Dublin, will stand next year's breeding season at Keane Stud farm in New York. This will help Spendthrift to achieve their goal with regard to its expansion in New York and to bring in the “Share the Upside” program to the
local market.
This breeding program includes the lifetime breeding right, for which the breeders are required to breed two mares from a dam and pay the fee for both stallions.
Spendthrift is a renowned thoroughbred race horse breeding farm named after a one of the most notable stallions in the horse racing industry, Spendthrift.
On the 12th of August, 2011, Dublin will be inspected at the large glossy open space, the sales ground of Fasig-Tipton Saratoga. This will help in avoiding congestion that may be caused during the auction.
Spendthrift has also announced that private inspection will be held on the scheduled time and the Dynamic Grade 1 winner’s fee will be publicised later.
In 2009, the colt, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, for William L. Mack and Robert C. Baker, had his maiden win at the Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes.
The son of Classy Mirage, who herself was a Grade 1 winner, and Afleet Alex, has earned $438,949 from his 11 career starts with 5 wins under jockey, Robby Albarado.
The four-year-old was purchased at a Yearling sale from the Dromoland Farm for $525,000 back in 2008 by Baker and Mack.
Dublin finished at the third position in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, Grade 2 Rebel Stakes and the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes.
In the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes, he was at the fifth position and in the Grade 2 Super Saver’s Kentucky Derby, presented by Yum, he finished seventh.
The colt was bred by Gerry Dilger and Peter E. Blum in Kentucky, located in the East Centeral states of USA.
The vibrant Grade 1 winner is the first horse to be offered to New York Breeders, by B. Wayne Hughes, owner of Spendthrift.
A fractured sesamoid injury ended Dublin’s career and he was kept in a rehabalitation institute until Spendthrift purchased him.
The owners are satisfied that he will make a fine sire since he has a beautiful pedigree.
