Dublin to Belfast??? How?

Question

I am going to be in Dublin in May, and I am looking to go see a concert in Belfast. What is the bus line I would take to get from Dublin to Belfast and back to Dublin? And about how much would it cost?

Not sure of the cost, but I'd take the train.  Much faster !

There is a train service also, and I would suggest staying overnight in Belfast.

The bus leaves every hr from the bus station near Beresford Place in the city centre on Dublin.

It will take you 3 hrs to get there.

Bus Eireann run a daily service from the Busaras station in Dublin to the Europa Bus Centre in Belfast. It leaves Dublin every hour on the hour and takes roughy between 2.5 hours and 3 hours.

If you're not staying in Belfast for the night you can get a return bus from the same station, after the concert. Return buses to Dublin leave on the hour and depart throughout the night and early morning.

You can also get a train from Dublin Connolly Station to Belfast Central Station with Iarnrod Eireann. The journey takes just over 2 hours and an adult return ticket is about €52.

I'd agree with posters suggesting the Bus Eireann/Ulsterbus option.  This goes every hour and keeps going through the night and is very reasonably priced.

A second choice is the aircoach (http://www.aircoach.ie for times and prices).  You will have to change bus at Dublin Airport and wait for up to an hour, but it can also be cheaper than the Bus Eireann option.

Car rental might be worth investigating - but will be more expensive than the above (and if you are doing this, don't buy any petrol in Northern Ireland if you can help it).

The train's expensive, goes every two hours, not the most reliable thing in the world, doesn't go very late, isn't very centrally located in either Dublin or Belfast and isn't that much better than the buses.
