  1. He doesn't need anything. He is just visiting so he is a tourist and doesn't need any visas.

  2. OK there,

Lets break this into two parts.

Does he require a visa to enter the UK  (Northern Ireland) ?

Probably, unless his country of origin has an arrangement with the UK.  You would need to check with the UK Embassy in Dublin.

Does he need a visa to cross the border to get into the UK (Northern Ireland)

Probably not , as it is unlikely he will be checked by car.

However, if he were stopped and discovered in the UK without a visa it is possible that he would be expelled which would affect any future attempts to enter the UK.

    Good luck !

  3. He needs a UK visa to visit Belfast.

Its illegal for him to go to Belfast without a UK visa. However, there are few checks (except on public transport) so he should be ok.

Morid isn't correct below. If he needs an Irish visa, he'll need a UK one too. But there are few checks.

  4. If he's travelling by car he should be alright.  He shouldn't be asked for anything.

  5. Nobody will ask him for anything. There is no control on the border.
