Dublin weekend breaks?

Question

Does anyone know any good hotels in the centre of dublin coming from liverpool...and can anyone tell me how fat the airport is from dublin centre???

City center is 40 minutes from airport by bus. You can check it at http://www.dublinbus.ie . Buses are 746, 16A. I don't know what you mean by good hotels. All depends on your budget. You might try this link http://dublin.city-centre-hotels.com/ .

I would giver Dublin a miss. I work there sometimes during the week and the hotels double their prices at the weekend.

London is much nicer and more things to do there than just drink in Dublin.

You can get a bus from the airport to the city - take 30minutes approx.

Hi Lara,  We stayed in Wynn's Hotel it's just off O'Connell St it is right in the heart of everything, just walk out of the hotel turn left and you are on O'Connell St. It's near the River Liffey.  Dublin airport is about 40 mins away from the city so make sure you book a hotel near the city centre it costs about 35 euros in a taxi to get into Dublin. The second time we went we got on the bus at the airport it was only 7 euros each.  Take a tour while you are in the city it's well worth it, it costs around 14 euros. Take a look in the Post Office you cant miss it it is on O'Connell St, Flanagan's is a good place to eat it's just past the Post Office near McDonald's.  Henry St is fantastic for shopping, and go into Clarey's the big Dept store. everything i have mentioned is just either on O'Connell St, or just off O'Connell St.  The Guinness factory is well worth a visit, you can get to it on a tour bus, it's a hop on hop off bus .  Enjoy your visit there is so much to see and do.

Dublin is not cheap to stay ... especially in the city centre. The airport is about 15 km from O'Connell street, lots of buses go in and out but try to avoid rush hour, you'd be stuck on a bus for 2 hours for what should be a 25 minute journey.

Go to Cork or Limerick instead, much cheaper, airports close to the cities, and much more compact city centres.

I wouldn't stay in the central hotels but maybe  Bed & Breakfast house outside the centre. Taxi would only be €10/15 to centre

Maybe stay in Rathmines, Harolds Cross, Ranelagh, Ballsbridge (very nice!)

Taxi would cost around €30/40 to these areas from the airport make sure he doesn't take the motorway or it'll cost more

the airport is about 20 min half hr away, tops.

its brill in dublin, try ryanair 4 flights, i live nr liverpool n always go with ryanair to ireland. its a really great place go a lil further out than the city tho it will be really expensive, why do u think they all come over here at the weekend!

There are plenty of hotels in Dublin, as well as guest houses, hostels etc...as someone else already said, it depends on your budget. The airport is roughly 30 minutes away from the city centre, depending on the traffic, and is well serviced by public transport and taxis. I'm not sure if it suits, but one hotel I stayed in was Bewleys in Ballsbridge, about 10-15 mins from the city centre for 109 euro per room, regardless of whether there's 1,2,3 or 4 people.
