Dubrov Denis earns Men’s 200m IM gold: Day two – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Dubrov Denis of DPR earned gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Tuesday, May 8.
Denis served notice of his talent in the 200m discipline as he outsmarted his challengers on the finishing end for gold medal.
With his alluring efforts, he remained considerably ahead of his closest competitor and emerged on the finishing blockade for gold medal by posting a time of 2 minutes and 03.66 seconds.
Denis was trailed by his team-member, Lytvenok Yegor, who was 1.14 seconds apart and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 04.80 seconds.
Similarly, Yegor outperformed his strongest challenger, Alpatov Vitaly of VLN in an astonishing manner. Vitaly stayed just 0.22 seconds slower from his former finisher and reached the victory stand for bronze medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 05.02 seconds.
The third position holder faced tough battle from Sergei Varvaruk of RVN, who stayed 0.75 seconds slower and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 05.77 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth position of the discipline was trailed by Alexander Vassiliev of PFA, who suffered a loss of 0.21 seconds from his preceding swimmer and hit the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 05.98 seconds.
Vassiliev was followed by Alexander Isakov of IFR, who stayed 1.02 seconds slower and finished his swim in sixth finest placed of the event by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 07.00 seconds.
Meanwhile, Bohorovskyy Constantine of DPR snared seventh best qualifying spot of the discipline as he tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.21 seconds.
Constantine was chased by Black Yegor of DPR, who stayed 0.60 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 08.81 seconds for last spot of the event.
In addition, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders were awarded medals and accolades for their blistering performances at the medal distribution ceremony of the tournament.
