I have older Ducane grill model 1204SHLPE. Ignitor on right side quit working. I bought aftermarket replacement that included ignitor collector box assembly, ignitor and lead wire. When I unplugged the old wire from the spark generator, there was a metal spud sticking out of the electrical connector on the end of the lead wire attached to the old ignitor. The new ignitor wire did not have this spud in the end of the wire. It had a female electrical connector on the end like the old one, but no spud. I was able to remove the spud from the old ignitor wire but when I tried to install into the end of the new ignitor wire, I couldn't make it fit and ended up splitting the plastic insulation on the connector on the end of the new wire. Bottom line I wasn't able to fix it. What can I do now? I can't return the new ignitor assembly because the connector on the end of the wire is destroyed. Can I buy this kind of wire connector and splice it onto the end of the ignitor wire? Please help me!
