Ducati Team chief Jerry Burgess to miss Gran Premio d’Italia in Mugello – MotoGP news
Ducati Team crew chief Jerry Burgess will not be with Valentino Rossi at Mugello for the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM this weekend.
Homeboy Rossi will feature in the season’s eighth MotoGP event with Loris Capirossi’s crew chief Fabiano Sterlacchini from Pramac Racing.
Rossi said, “First of all I'd like to wish good luck to Jeremy, who won't be able to join us this weekend due to very important personal reasons. We'll miss him very much in the garage, but we look forward to seeing him at the Sachsenring.”
One of the most successful crew chiefs in two wheel racing world has returned to Australia to get along with his family. Burgess’s wife has been advised by doctors to undergo some medical checkups and possibly get a surgery soon.
Burgess has been with Rossi since the 2000 MotoGP season, which was his debut season as well. The Aussie veteran crew chief, Burgess has earned one world title with Wayne Gardner, five with Mick Doohan and seven with Valentino Rossi. He is expected to join
Rossi’s team for the German Grand Prix being held at Sachsenring.
The Ducati Team Manager Vittoriano Guareschi said, “We're very sorry not to have Jeremy with us at Mugello for our home race, where we'll have many fans in the grandstands. We're with him in spirit, and we're awaiting his prompt return. In the meantime,
we've revised the working structure in the box with the addition of Fabiano Sterlacchini.”
Sterlacchini is a highly experienced engineer in the Ducati squad. Presently, he is working along the Pramac Racing team with Loris Capirossi. At the moment, Capirossi is injured and ruled out for the Mugello event with broken ribs.
The Ducati team has made some strategic changes at their team garage to accommodate the work style of Sterlacchini.
Guareschi was grateful to Paolo Campinoti and the Pramac Racing team to let their man work with Rossi. It will help the Italian rider to prepare and race well at his home event. Let’s see how well he fares in Mugello this weekend.
