Ducati Team deny testing of 1000cc prototype during post-race test at Brno – MotoGP news
Ducati Team has denied the testing of their 2012 1000cc bike during the official post-race test that will take place on Monday after Cardion AB Grand Prix at Brno, Czech Republic.
Unlike its rivals Honda and Yamaha, the Italian team will focus on testing their 800cc bikes.
Guareschi said, “The Test Team tried some electronics updates at Mugello, and we'll use them in the post-race test at Brno to continue improving the setup and reduce the gap to the lead group. Filippo [Preziosi] will be on hand Monday, and we'll continue
the development work on the GP11.1 with both Valentino and Nicky.”
The team took the decision to avoid any kind of ‘versus’ testing with Honda and Yamaha. On the other side the team officials have announced that the factory engineers have tested new electronic components on the 800cc GP model.
In terms of testifying the upgrades, both team riders will be using the present GP11.1 version during the test run.
While commenting on the post-race test Nicky Hayden said, “Obviously the test on Monday will be really important for us. I'll probably just ride the GP11 on the race weekend and then test the new bike on Monday.”
Considering the rivals, Honda and Yamaha have tested their bikes privately. Officially, eight test days were allowed during the 2011 MotoGP season. While testing, Ducati have used five test days with their team riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden.
On the other side, Honda and Yamaha have not yet officially tested their 1000cc bikes. Now both the top teams have declared that their team riders will ride 2012 machines at the Brno post-race test.
Approaching Brno, Valentino Rossi will use the new version of Desmosedici which is GP11.1 throughout the race weekend. Meanwhile Nicky Hayden is looking forward to continue playing with the GP11. However, on the test day both team riders will test the GP11.1
to confirm the improvements that have been expected.
Rossi stands at fifth place in the world championship points table and Hayden is holding on to the seventh place.
