Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden clueless about testing new front end parts for GP11.1 – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden has no clue when will he use the modified front-end parts for the GP11.1.
It seems that Ducati are low on parts or need further time to test the modifications.
However, Hayden has revealed that the new front end setup will not be available for his Desmosedici in near future. The modified set up was used by Valentino Rossi during the Brno race weekend, which allowed him to deliver a more confident performance.
Hayden said, “I got it for a couple of hours and it was a nice little step but we don’t have a lot of parts and I had to give it back and I probably won’t get it back for a while. It was better for steering and it helped feel the front tyre a bit better.
It just takes time to make the parts and I probably won’t get it for a while, but it was a nice help and clearly it is a better way.”
Following the race day Hayden used the new front-end setup during the post race test at Brno. The new parts allowed him to instantly get a better front tyre feel. The modifications were made on the front fork and the axle which allows the rider to get a
softer feel from the front tyre.
This modification also helped Rossi to score a decent sixth position in the Czech GP. The Italian’s crew chief also praised the changes and claimed it to be a distinctive progress in GP. It was said that Desmosedici Rossi rode at Valencia was much better
than the modified version at Brno.
Since the Valencia test and throughout the season, Rossi and Hayden have complained about the dull front-end feel and understeer in the corners. After switching to these upgrades, it has amazingly improved the front-end feel.
Meanwhile, the understeering issue is also being resolved and most expectedly, a new aluminium chassis is being considered to replace Ducati’s signature carbon fibre chassis. Filippo Preziosi is also looking forward to make changes.
