Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden fully prepared for upcoming German Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden is fully prepared to race at the ninth MotoGP round, the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.
The race will be held at the Sachsenring circuit, Germany on July 17, 2011.
The American rider likes to race at anti-clockwise circuits which also includes the Sachsenring circuit.
Hayden said, “Sachsenring is a tight, scrappy little track, but it’s one I quite like. It’s got the shortest lap time the whole year apart from Laguna, but it’s a long race, and we’re on the left side of the tyre for much of the time.”
He further commented on the track layout and said that the circuit consists mostly of left-hand corners which he prefers. In the previous seasons, the American rider has scored some good results at the German venue.
The Sachsenring circuit has two sections- the first one is slow and narrow with low speeds while the second section is fast and wide allowing higher speeds.
One of the most well-known fast corners of the circuit is called the Waterfall Corner. It is completed in fifth gear with a sloping tarmac but it hinders the sight for the next corner. Hayden says it is the best corner amongst all the MotoGP circuits.
Vittoriano Guareschi, Ducati Team Manager said, “The Sachsenring is very different from Mugello, and it will be interesting to learn whether the latest changes to the setup that we tried on the GP11.1 during the Italian GP will be a good starting point.
We’ll see if those settings can also adapt to features like those of the German track, which is narrow and winding.”
Guareschi further stated that Rossi made a good comeback at Sachsenring after his leg injury at the Italian Grand Prix in the 2010 season.
The manager at the Ducati team expects the German GP to be conducted under pleasant weather conditions which will support maximum testing time. Let’s see how it fares in Germany this weekend.
