Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden tests Desmosedici GP12 at Mugello – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden underwent another test session to develop their Desmosedici GP12 at the Mugello circuit, Italy.
Both team riders Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi are playing their role in the development of 2012 Ducati prototype. The GP12 is based on a 1000cc engine which will be seen racing in the 2012 MotoGP season.
Vittoriano Guareschi led the test session with Hayden while Valentino Rossi will be aboard the GP12 the following day.
The American rider said, “It was a positive day, even if the track conditions this morning weren’t great because of the rain last night. That caused us to get started a bit late, but we worked on the setup and some new changes that have been made to the
GP12.”
Hayden completed 83 laps on the GP12. The track conditions were not much favourable due to rain the previous day. Despite of tight race schedule, both riders are taking some time to complete the test at the Mugello circuit.
On the other hand, Desmosedici GP11 is also being put to test for further enhancements. Franco Battaini is conducting the test under his supervision along Ducati Team Manager, Vittoriano Guareschi.
Hayden further said, “I only started having better feeling after the lunch break, when the sun made the track conditions better. The new asphalt is definitely a big improvement, especially in some spots, like the two Arrabbiate corners, which are really
fun now.”
Ducati Team’s American rider seemed pleased with the changes made in the bike since his last test at Jerez. He was also thankful to Filippo Preziosi who called him in for another test ride for the GP12.
After three years of being out of racing, bigger engines will roar once again in the 2012 MotoGP season. Another expected change for the next season is the addition of 16 new riders with 11 more teams under the ‘Claiming Rules Teams’ clause.
