Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden will not further test 1000cc Ducati in 2011 season – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden has revealed that he might not get his hands on the 2012 1000cc Ducati GP12 for testing purposes further in this season.
Ducati have spent five days out of officially sanctioned eight days for 1000cc testing during the 2011 season. Rest of the three days left are expected to be conducted with Valentino Rossi.
Hayden said, “We've only got three more days left and I don’t think they are my days. I didn't see the other 1000s that were testing at Brno but I guess they were going pretty quick. We were doing mid-'57s so I’m sure they would have been faster than us
on our 1000 but I’m glad I didn’t see any '55s because I feared the worst.”
Hayden’s fear was about to come true if Casey Stoner had optimum conditions to hit his best lap time aboard 2012 RC213V at Brno. Stoner marked lowest time at 1:56.1 seconds.
While testing new parts and being tired from a full race weekend, it was a little difficult for the Aussie to be in the 1:55s region. After a test, Stoner did mention that it was possible to break the 1:56 time barrier on a fine day.
Earlier in the season Hayden and Rossi conducted test days with GP12 each at a time. Previous GP12 tests were held at Jerez and Mugello. This time at Brno post race test Ducati denied testing their 2012 model alongside Honda and Yamaha.
The Italian manufacturer avoided a head-to-head competition at Brno. During the Brno test, it was seen that the Honda RC213V dominated the time charts leaving the 2012 1000cc Yamaha in dust.
However, Ducati have saved its chances for a better time. It will provide the team with sufficient time for developing new parts and taking decisions for new changes.
Meanwhile testing 800cc GP11.1 at Brno, Hayden was pleased to test the new revised front-end setup in the newer version of GP11.
The new modifications were made with the help of feedback from Valentino Rossi, who also enjoyed the upgrades in the Brno race. The new setup allowed Rossi to hit sixth position on the race day.
