Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi aiming to perform well at Sachsenring – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi is hoping to perform well at the upcoming MotoGP event in Sachsenring, Germany.
The circuit where he has enjoyed success five times will now host the ninth event of 2011 MotoGP season, the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland on July 17, 2011.
The Sachsenring circuit mostly comprises of left hand corners which makes it an anti-clockwise race.
On Rossi’s demand, the Ducati Desmosedici was reformed from GP11 to GP11.1 consisting of some significant changes especially the new chassis which was borrowed from the GP12 prototype. The new enhanced setup was tested at the last MotoGP event held in Mugello.
Due to the lack of time, the GP11.1 was not tested to its maximum. The only availed time was during the warm session on Sunday.
Valentino Rossi said, “The bike worked better in the race than it had in practice, but we still need to do more experiments with these settings, so at the Sachsenring we’ll see if they might be a good starting point. The track is tricky in some spots, but
it’s a circuit that I like.”
In the 2010 German event, Rossi made his comeback after his leg injury at the Italian Grand Prix and the race went good. The Italian veteran anticipates the weather to be favourable at Germany in terms of testing the new setup of the GP11.1. The testing
time is very crucial for the Ducati team to sort out the problems in the package.
Ducati Team Manager, Vittoriano Guareschi said, “Vale has won there on many occasions, and last year he rode well on his return from injury. Nicky has also made the podium there a number of times. We hope it will be nice for the entire weekend so that we
can finally do all the practice sessions and the race with the same weather conditions.”
Sachsenring is a narrow track and holds the second shortest stretch after Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In terms of its layout, it is technically a tough racetrack and also hard for tyres due to plenty of left bends some of which are high speed corners. Let’s
see how the event goes through this weekend.
