Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi eager to shine at Gran Premio d’Italia – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi is keen to deliver an outstanding performance at the upcoming Gran Premio d’Italia TIM.
The eighth round of the 2011 MotoGP season will be held at Mugello on Sunday, July 3, 2011.
The Mugello round is a crucial event for many Italian riders in MotoGP class, especially for the Ducati team and its Italian rider Valentino Rossi. He has made several attempts to improve his pace during the last seven rounds in the ongoing MotoGP season.
He is currently riding the GP11.1 which has been inspired by the team’s upcoming GP12 version.
Rossi said, “We've ridden there with the GP12, but because our bike is an 800, it responds a little differently to adjustments, and it's also in its first phase of development. It will be vital to quickly find the right path for the setup, as it's important
that we improve in every session in order to qualify in a good position.”
The seven-time MotoGP title winner is back at Mugello after he sustained a severe leg injury in the 2010 season. It will be his maiden home race as Ducati’s home rider.
Rossi has won seven races at the Italian venue in a row from 2002-2008. In the following season of 2009, he managed to finish at the podium but at third place and could not race in 2010.
With one podium yet for Ducati Team, he is suffering from the longest winless streak of his MotoGP career. His last win dates back to the Malaysian GP of 2010.
The Italian rider added, “The track is one of my favourites, and I've always done pretty well there. Returning after last year's accident is no problem for me, because I enjoyed riding there during the recent tests, as I always do.”
Rossi is looking forward to see a large number of fans gathered to praise their MotoGP stars. He added that the support from enthusiasts will be a fuel to perform even better than earlier in the 2011 season. Let’s see how he fares at the Mugello circuit.
