Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi in attendance at Sachsenring press meeting – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi was present at pre-event press meeting held at Sachsenring, Germany.
The presser officially started the MotoGP race weekend for the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. The race will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011.
The Italian veteran has been searching for right the race package for a while now. His pace has been lacking power on straight lines. While struggling for power, the bike has also been soft in handling tough corners which has been an important issue for
Rossi. When the Italian tested the GP12 earlier in the season, he proposed to couple the 2012 chassis with an 800cc engine and come up with a new Desmosedici called GP11.1.
Rossi while commenting on his 2010 comeback at Germany said, “Last year was very emotional to come back and ride after the crash, and I have very good memories because I was fast and had a great battle. We have to try the same this year. This isn’t a good
moment for us we have to work to be closer to the top guys.”
As many riders say, Rossi’s opinion about Sachsenring is also critical and he claims it to be tricky. Although the German circuit is tough for riders and bikes but still it is one of his favourite tracks of the season.
After Rossi’s crash and leg injury in the 2010 Italian Grand Prix, he made his comeback at Germany and battled a lot during the race. Rossi has won five races at the German venue in his motorcycle-racing career.
Rossi said, “Unfortunately in the last two races we have had to fight the weather, especially in Assen but also in Mugello where we couldn’t work enough on the bike because of the bad conditions. It looks like we fixed some problems but we have others.”
Rossi believes that he is heading in the right direction with his newly bred GP11.1 which is an inspired version of the GP12. Lack of testing time in Mugello left the Ducati team with some unanswered questions, but now they will test it to the maximum for
better race pace.
