Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi struggling to further develop Desmosedici – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi says that he is struggling to decide about the next step in the development of the Ducati Desmosedici.
The Italian manufacturer has even tried out the FTR chassis but it did not improve the pace.
The Italian veteran seems to be out of ideas to make changes in the GP11.1. He was extremely disappointed with the tenth place finish at the Motorland Aragon Grand Prix.
While talking to MCN, Valentino Rossi said, “I'm not sure what is the real problem. It is maybe a problem to match between me and the bike and I'm not sure if with this new chassis if the situation improves or if it really is a problem of the material.”
Rossi least expected this type of performance from the newly designed frame. He was not able to have any improved feel at the front. The Italian rider was stuck with Cal Crutchlow and Hiroshi Aoyama for majority of the race.
The additional problem for Rossi was that he had to start the race from the pit lane with a ten-second delay from the race start. It was due to his use of the seventh engine in the season. MotoGP regulations allow only six engines for the season.
Rossi added, “It is very difficult to say. Unfortunately I am not an engineer and I don't know. This answer must arrive from Ducati. The feeling with the front was not so bad and I am quite good in braking and the entry but I remain slow in the change of
direction.”
Rossi further explained his issues in the race that the front end was considerably fine but the rear end was spinning free. The Desmosedici GP was sliding a lot on the corner exits. While completing the second lap the bike gave massive wheel spins, he said.
He was in a completely disastrous situation and said that he had never seen a Bridgestone tyre moving like this. Rossi also accepted the fact that with a good tyre, he would have not hit the podium but could have managed good lap times.
