Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi takes futuristic step in post race test at Brno – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi completed 75 laps during the post-race test session held at Brno, Czech Republic.
Rossi tested new components and different settings on the Ducati Desmosedici GP11.1 version.
He said, “It was a very busy day, not only because we did almost 75 laps, but also because we tried many changes in every outing. It’s not easy riding like that, as it requires a lot of concentration. We had some electronic updates that we still have to
perfect, but we’ll return to those soon.”
The Italian rider was focused to improve the feel from the front end of his Ducati. The new version of the Desmosedici was displayed at the Dutch TT Assen round. Since then, Rossi has tried hard to improve the new breed and score better results in the races.
However, Rossi tested varied setups by changing the weight distribution of his bike and also with different chassis geometry. He claimed that the test session was pretty tough in the situation where each lap is done on a different setting. Such kind of method
requires a lot of concentration to carry the session.
Rossi added, “Apart from that, we were thinking more toward the future, mainly trying different geometries, weight distributions, and settings that were a little strange, everything to remove any doubts and to understand some things about the GP11.1.”
Furthermore, Rossi claimed that the session was a positive one. After a lot of testing, it was clear that the bike has improved and provided answers to many issues. During the test, new Bridgestone tyres were also tested which helped in a better pace.
On the occasion, Ducati Technical Director, Filippo Preziosi was also present. He expressed that the session was dedicated to understand the next step of development for the 2012 prototype. He added it will help to direct the factory engineers in the right
direction for developments.
For the required task, the Ducati team brought in many different parts for the Brno test that allowed the crew to test various types of settings rather than making slight changes.
