Question:

Ducati at Mugello Moto GP?

With Stoner breaking down at Le Mans, (unheard of). and Ducati leaving early from testing. It makes me think things are not right at Ducati (stating the obvious I know ) But this has been bugging me all season, I think Ducati are struggling with the 21 litre rule. when I watch Stoners lap times. the word Rolex comes to mind. I think he gets a pace where he can finish the race. Now with Mugello being notorious for people running out of fuel in the past. and with the fast straight going to count. are we going to see Stoner Struggle again, through no fault of his own. and can we be in for a fuel consumption race instead of first to finish ?

  1. Yes,Ducati's surprisingly(at leats to me) dissatisfying performance has been torturing my thoughts too.Stoner had a great first GP of the season, and he was the best in the pre-season tests but then problems started. And what is there to say about Melandri :((((((

I think that after the failure Ducati experienced at Le Mans, they will have to work very hard and do their best to make as big improvements as possible.I agree with you that we will see Casey struggling in Miguello but anyway if there is a GP where anything is possible and all can be expected that is Miguello.Looking forward to it.

  2. very good question proc, and you certainly know your stuff we have always known that the duke has awesome top end speed which has so far been lacking i thought that the rest had caught up but as you point out with the limited fuel capacity maybe a few tweaks have been made, on another note Casey is d**n quick on that red rocket and i expect him to be at the front of the field maybe try and break away as he did so consistently last year and hoping he builds up a big enough advantage over the chasing pack, buyt then comes the tyres with Vale on the bridgestones he will be quick from the word go aswell and he is hitting form again. What a race we have lined up cant wait this is one of the most exciting parts of the season for me with so many races in a short space of time

  3. Very good point on the fuel my good man.

Im at work [ very ] early in the morning, but dont want to leave this question blank.

I will have a go in about 30 hours time !

  4. yes

  5. I thought also that the tires made a big difference last year, and that Mugello was Stoner's worst race. (He got beaten by the non-factory Ducati from Barros.)

The Michelins have caught up though, and Rossi has Bridgestones. Does Stoner test often at Mugelo? I saw Michael Schumacher testing for Ducati there. You have that rule though against official riders testing for you on official tracks.

I don't think that Stoner will do well at the next three tracks adding Donnington and Assen. I think that the next three races are Pedrosa, Lorenzo then Rossi. I think Pedrosa gets the new Honda at Donnington, I think that he is the favorite now.
