Ducati crew chief Jerry Burgess says they need new ideas to develop further – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi’s crew chief, Jerry Burgess has asked the Bologna factory to help the riders with new ideas for further development of the Desmosedici GP.
He has expressed the need of innovation in ideas and claimed that it is the time to imply new things to make a step ahead in the Desmosedici project. The most discussed radical change is the chassis type. Rossi has humbly asked to replace the carbon fibre
chassis with a more conventional aluminium frame.
Valentino Rossi’s crew chief, Jerry Burgess said, “We need some more help and some different ideas. Everybody is aware that the feeling the riders don’t get has to be improved and we need to do that by whatever method they decide.”
After a lot of testing, a technical change was made after the last Mugello test. Rossi called the 2012 chassis to be better than the present one. So the 800cc was fused with the 2012 chassis to make a GP11.1 which has been in Rossi’s use since the Assen
event.
However, the Ducati team boss, Filippo Preziosi has not yet practiced the idea of changing the chassis. Though the results have been dropping gradually with every round, but it is still not clear what Ducati will do.
It is also reported that Rossi will be testing the newly developed aluminium frame at Mugello in the coming weekend.
Burgess further added, “We’ve done all we can here at the track and until we get something to work with, we’re really going to struggle to move forward at all. Valentino will go out and go to battle with whatever he has got and he can always say it has to
be improved.”
The Aussie crew chief has revealed that it totally depends on Ducati to take new steps. The technical crew and Rossi have tried every method possible on the present bike but the changes have not been desirable so far.
As a matter of fact, the settings used by former Ducati rider, Casey Stoner have also been tested but the issue still remains prevalent. Somehow, the settings used by Stoner put an end to the progress. Rossi is a little disappointed but is optimistic to
make some progress by testing new components in his GP11.1.
