Ducati hopes the tweaks prove beneficial at the Mugello Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Ducati are hoping that the set-up tweaks it has made to the bike will give it a strong basis for the race at Mugello.
The tweaks were made ahead of the German Grand Prix in order to better prepare for the home. Although the team has not been able to test the new settings because of wet weather conditions on both Friday and Saturday but during the race Valentino Rossi and
Nicky Hayden battled it out in a multiple-bike fight for the fifth place finish.
Rossi was able come up tops in the battle of the duo finishing at sixth was only two tenths of a second behind LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl.
Rossi was pleased with the tweaks at the German race and mentioned that it is imperative for the team to build on the base they were able to get on Sunday.
“Sunday at the Sachsenring, we used a setup that enabled us to be more consistent and to stress the rear tyre a bit less so that we still had a decent pace at the end of the race,” he said. “It was our best result of the year so far in the dry, so now we'll
start from that base in an effort to improve at Mugello. It's the Italian Grand Prix, so everyone, including myself, must make an extra effort to do well in our home race. We really have to try to do our best.”
Team manager Vittoriano Guareschi concurred with Rossi’s comments and said that there is a big difference between a short and a narrow track much like the Sachsenring. Then there is the old style with long straights and fast corners like Mugello. The team
must know how to manage different track styles to get the desired results.
He added that his way the team can make it possible for Rossi and Hayden to perform to the best of their abilities while enjoying their riding which will definitely mean a lot to the duo.
It will be interesting to see how the team fares at the upcoming home race in Italy.
